Star Solar Shield is a transparent anti-soiling coating developed for compatible photovoltaic-panel glass. Once cured, it forms a thin hydrophobic surface that helps reduce the adhesion of dust, dirt, water and airborne pollutants. By keeping the exposed glass cleaner between maintenance cycles, the coating can help reduce soiling-related energy loss and simplify routine panel cleaning. Actual performance depends on the panel, site conditions, dust characteristics, humidity, cleaning schedule and application quality.
THE SOILING CHALLENGE
When Dust Builds Up, Solar Output Drops
Fine dust, sand, coastal contaminants and airborne pollutants can accumulate across solar-panel surfaces and reduce the amount of sunlight reaching the photovoltaic cells. In dry and dusty environments, this can create variable energy output between cleaning cycles while increasing water, labour and access requirements across rooftop and utility-scale solar installations.
A Low-Adhesion Surface Designed for Harsh Solar Environments
Star Solar Shield changes the surface behaviour of compatible panel glass. The cured coating increases water repellency and reduces the adhesion of dust and common contaminants. This can make accumulated soiling easier to remove and help more useful sunlight continue to reach the photovoltaic cells between cleaning cycles. The coating does not increase the rated efficiency of the solar cell itself, and project performance should be verified through monitored comparison.
