Star Cool Shield is a high-reflectance coating range developed for exposed roofs and selected exterior surfaces. By reflecting a greater proportion of incoming solar energy and releasing absorbed heat more efficiently, the coating helps lower roof-surface temperature and reduce heat transfer into the building. Different systems are available for concrete, masonry, exterior walls and selected industrial metal roofs, subject to substrate and project assessment.

Dark, uncoated or weathered roofs can absorb substantial solar energy throughout the day. As the surface temperature rises, heat transfers through the roof assembly and into the spaces below. This can create warmer top-floor conditions, increase AC workload and place additional demand on building cooling systems during long Gulf summers.

Star Cool Shield reduces roof heating by reflecting a high proportion of incoming solar radiation. Its thermal-emittance performance also helps the treated surface release part of the heat it absorbs. A cooler roof surface can reduce conductive heat transfer into the building and may support lower cooling demand. Actual performance depends on the selected system, roof construction, existing insulation, building use, climate and maintenance condition.
